Analysis

Head-to-head record 1:0

The chance for an immediate retaliation comes for Tsonga just a few days after his terrible performance against Grosjean last week in Lyon. Grosjean won their last clash 6:2,6:1 without any troubles even when he was considered to be a huge underdog in that match. Tsonga´s odds fluctuated somewhere around 1.45 last week but he didn´t manage to confirm the role of favourite and totally burned up. It was one of the worst performances in his career but we hope he learnt from the huge number of mistakes he made and this match should be totally different. We expect a close battle which could end up in some tiebreaks. Grosjean is one of the most popular players on the circuit, he is well known as being a player of the utmost class, and is affectionately nicknamed 'Big John' by fans due to the literal translation of his surname into English. His YTD record has been really poor up until the last week performance. He is an experienced player whose style of play is suited to all surfaces but his stellar years seem to be gone and even when he performed in a good light last week, we don´t think we will manage to get back to his previous level. Current odds are hugely influenced by the last week run and in our eyes, young Tsonga is at least able to keep it close today. Tsonga is a player with a bright future ahead of him. He is a typical hard-courter and should feel comfortable on this surface. Odds above 2.2 are worth trying for us.
