The Polish rising star Agnieszka Radwanska will face Australian qualifier Alicia Molik. Molik was firstly considered to be a double specialist winning her first grandslam doubles title in Melbourne 2005. But she improved her singles results as well and reached the top ten on the WTA tour for the first time in 2005 following her first grandslam quarters at the Aussie Open. Later in that year, she suffered an ear infection which forced her miss much of the later season. Lately, she announced that she will take an extended break including whole 2006 season for full recovery. Although she has managed to return to the main tour earlier than expected, she wasn´t able to bounce back and has never got back to the previous level of performances. Even when she has been struggling since that time, she showed some signs of improvement during the last weeks. She is a heavy-hitting player who prefers rapid surfaces and following an impressive performance in qualifiers, she could be competitive in the first round as well. Her opponent will be A.Radwanska of Poland. She is a Polish prodigy and became the first Polish player in history to claim a Sony Ericsson WTA Tour singles title. There is a bright future ahead of her without any doubts. But she is still inexperienced and sometimes lacks consistency. Last week she lost to Knapp in qualifiers and dropped one set to Salerni. Eventually, she advanced to the quarterfinals as a lucky looser but this only proofs her inconsistency. She is a bit overvalued today and Molik´s odds above 3.2 could be taken here.
