| Analysis | Head-to-head record 0:0 Nicolas Mahut of France is going to fight against Russian Igor Andreev in a battle for semifinal spot in Metz. Mahut is a very dangerous player especially of rapid surfaces (grass, indoor) as right-handed serve is really strong. He is a good serve and volleyer and which helped him to become the world class doubles player. He has won many tournaments with his country-mate Julien Benneteau but this year he showed some solid performances in singles as well. At Queens, he managed to defeat fifth-seed Croatian Ivan Ljubicic and top-seed Rafa Nadal both in straight sets to reach semis where he beat another Frenchman Arnaud Clement. He lost to Andy Roddick in a very tight match having one match point in the second set tiebreak in his first ATP final. He continued to play well after that tournament with the only one exception - first round loss to Del Potro at Flushing Meadows. He seems to be in a very good shape and we believe he is able to defeat Russian opponent who doesn’t prefer fast surfaces. He is coming off the solid performance in Davis Cup on clay but he doesn’t really like indoors as his style of play is mainly about movement and long rallies played from the baseline. We think that chances are at least equal and Mahut is definitely capable to win on his favourite surface and ahead of his home crowd. Odds above 1.9 can be taken here. |
