| Analysis | Head-to-head record 0:0 Meghann Shaughnessy of United States will meet Czech qualifier Zuzana Ondraskova in the first round of Luxembourg tournament. Both of them are experienced players with very similar style of play which is based on solid serve and suited especially to fast surfaces. Both Shaughnessy and Ondraskova are not having their best season this year as American player won 19 matches out of 42 she has played so far and Czech won just 12 out of 30 matches. But there is a slight difference between their current form. Even when Shaughnessy is a better player with more experience from big tournaments, her latest results are doubtful. Well, she played stronger opponents in most cases but she lost to playes such as Gajdosova, Tu or Azarenka as well. Her very last performance in Portoroz was terrific as she lost to Srebotnik 6:2,6:0. Ondraskova played pretty well in all qualifying rounds in Luxembourg. This could be a sign of improvement and these easy wins should increase her self-confidence. We don´t understand why Czech´s odds are so high and we would estimate the chances to be like 60:40 in Meghann´s favour. Odds above 3.5 could be taken here for sure. |
