| Analysis | Head-to-head 1:0 Ayumi Morita is Japanese youngster (17 years old) who made really progress this year. Her impressive YTD record – 32 wins/14 losses – catapulted her close to the 100 for the first time in her short career. She is a typical tiny Japanese girl with very fast legs and fighting spirit which helped her to win several lost matches this year. She fell short of expectation losing in the first round of US Open qualifiers to young American hope Melanie Oudin but this was just one of the very few blow-ups she suffered this year. Even when she mostly played at small tournaments, she defeated several top hundred players, for instance Sugiyama, Craybas, Kerber or experienced former top ten player Paola Suarez. She advanced through qualifiers in Bali beating Sun and Klepac and showed that her US Open drop-out is already forgotten. Her opponent will be Marina Erakovic of New Zealand. She used to be a promising teenager 2 years ago but hasn’t been meeting expectations this year so far. Her balance is 18-17 and she hasn’t really achieved too many convincing wins during this season. She lost to Morita in their only meeting and we think that she should be underdog in today´s match as well. Morita´s odds around 1.7 should be worth taking here. |
