| Analysis | Head-to-head 0:0 John Isner became a star and the biggest American hope from day to day. We have already unsuccessfully advised against him though but we will try it again on today. We must admit that he has probably the very bright future in front of him as his serve is and will be unbreakable especially on fast surfaces. His style of play is very similar to guys such as Karlovic, Rusedski or Philippoussis – it is all about killing serve while his movement, technique and baseline play aren´t even mediocre. This is something he should be worried about on clay but not on the US hard courts. On the other hand, he is still inexperienced and usually has big troubles when playing against good returners. His opponent will be Rick de Voest of South Africa who cannot be rated as a world class returner though but he came through the qualifiers and has already won 4 matches in New York. He seems to be in a pretty good shape and considering his experience, he shouldn’t be without chance in this match. His odds above 3.5 don’t reflect the reality in our eyes and are highly influenced by the boom made around Isner lately. South African would probably have been even a favourite in this match just a few weeks ago and that is why we will try a small stake on him. |
