Analysis

Head-to-head record 0:3

We will try to break our Cincy´s unsuccessful serie by backing on James Blake against former no.1 Juan Carlos Ferrero of Spain. Blake is one of the most popular and most intelligent tennis players on ATP circuit. He is a typical hardcourter with good serve and powerful strokes from both sides. If we want to be desinterested, we should mention that he often lacks consistency during the match and tries to finish the rallies as soon as possible which often leads to many unforced errors. Unfortunatelly, his agressive hit or miss style of play is probably convenient to excellent baseliner such as Ferrero and that is why El Mosquito won 3 out of their 3 meetings including their match in Cincy last year and Wimbledon´s clash this year. Blake has also been taking the risk of killing second serve in his latest matches which is the cause of many double faults he has been producing lately. On the other hand, he is going to play in front of his home crowd which should help him tonight. We saw him playing against Kiefer in the second round and we were really impressed by his self confidence and stamina. He is keen-set for successes after the bad year and we believe he will fight out his spot in Cincy´s quarters. His Spanish opponent used to be the pure claycourter during his best years but he managed to improve his serve and hardcourts abilities in the process. His movement is still great but we still think that if Blake does his best, he can send Ferrero home.
