Analysis

Head-to-head record 0:0

After yesterday's bad luck when Sequera gave up after the first set and Nakamura´s stake was voided, we continue with providing ATP circuit picks. Wesley Whitehouse of South Afrrica and Jiri Vanek of Czech Republic have introduced themselves in the first round of tournament in Washington.

Favourite of this match is the player from Czech Republic but according to our opinion, this match should be very tight with better end for South African. Jiri Vanek does not have strictly bad form this season - he fought his way to final round of two clay tournaments in Prague and Lugano. Well, he lost both of these finals (to Lojda and Eschauer) but both of them in the final set tiebreak. It is necessary to remind that Vanek is having good results just on the clay. His YTD balance on hard surfaces is 2:4 (defeated Walkow and De Chaunac, lost to Hrbaty, Zib, Karlovic and Mertl) this year. Wesley Whitehouse hasn´t had a bad year sofar - he managed to win one Future tournament in Brownsville (he defeated e.g. Vemic or Tecau) and fought his way to the final of the other small tournament this year. He performed well last week in Los Angeles even when he was defeated by Kendrick (4:6, 3:6). Vanek is surely better tennis player, but it will be his first match on hard surface since clay season and we believe in better warm up of player from South Africa. We will try to bet 3 points.
