Analysis

Head-to-head record 2:2

Jiri Vanek is an experienced clay courter from Czech Republic. He made his best career results on clay and even if he hasn´t been impressive this season so far, he showed some decent signs of improvement lately. He played two finals on clay in Prague and Lugano and won two matches here in qualifiers. He defeated Guenat and Armando with easiness and we think he has pretty good chance to make some rounds in the main event as well. His style of play is all about movement on the baseline. His serve and volleys aren´t world class but this is something he can play without on clay. His first round opponent will be Frenchman Florent Serra whose recent results are far from being great. He was working hard during the off-season and wanted to improve his hard court abilities as streght and power were used to be his weak points. But better results haven´t come so far and he wasn´t impressive even on clay this year. His YTD claycourt record is 2-5 and he defeated just Bolelli and Kunitsyn on clay this year. He plays similar to Vanek and their head-to-head record is 2:2. That is why we don´t understand why Serra is set as a big favourite in this match. This should be a 50:50 match and Vanek´s odds at this level are worth backing.

Final result: 4:6,1:6 - wager won
