Analysis

Head-to-head record 1:0

This is gonna be the battle of generations. Tomas Berdych is a Czech young gun who surely has a great future in front of him. He is capable to reach the top 3 and maybe, when his time comes, he can become number one some day after Roger´s era. He is one of the most versatile players on ATP circuit which is his big advantage. He has a lot of weapons to use on all surfaces and the only weakness we took note of when watching his matches is probably his mental condition. He has been showing some incomprehensible failures lately which makes him vanquishable. His variable style of play, technique, accuracy and preciseness of some shots is comparable to Federer but we saw him losing some matches he should have won. He will meet Swedish veteran Jonas Bjorkman who got the second wind this year. Even if he hates clay, he managed to advance to the fourth round at Roland Garros which dramatically increased his self-confidence. He played well in Nottingham and Queen´s Club too and his last performances on Wimbledon´s grass were just amazing. He is one of the most experienced players and a great tactician. He destroyed Wayne Arthurs in his very last match and we think he is able to take Berdych by surprise. Wimbledon is his most favourite tournament and he is the defending semifinalist from 2006. Berdych is a great player but he is a bit overvalued here. This match is likely to be a tight and the score could be decided in some 4 or 5 sets. Furthermore, it is very likely that some sets will end in a tiebreak and Berdych´s tiebreak winning streak must end up sooner or later. His tiebreak record in Wimbledon is 6-0 and when we take into account the previous tournament in Halle, he won 9/9 tiebreaks on grass. They have met each other once so far and Berdych won that 3:2. He is the favourite of this match but prices should be set around 60:40 in Czech´s favour (in our eyes) and that´s why Bjorkamn´s odds above 3.5 could be taken here.

Final result: 6:4,6:0,6:7,6:0
