Analysis

Head-to-head record 0:0

Davydenko´s mission to Wimbledon is not over yet which forced us to repeat the same story again. Nikolay´s odds are infuenced strongly by his current ATP rank and his great run earlier this year. But we still think he remains overvalued within these conditions. Well, he showed some decent signs of improvement and his fast-court play is getting better but he simply can´t be the top player for this surface. Even if his play is not suited to grass at all, he is a strong fighter which makes him capable to win a couple of matches but the odds on his appearance in final stages of Wimbledon remain long indeed. He was very lucky in the first round against Korolev and it shouldn´t last forever. Davydenko will face Australian giant Chris Guccione in the second round. Guccione is a natural born bomber whose style of play is all about huge serve and killing shots from both sides. His movement and baseline play are limited but unbreakable serve is more important weapon to have on this surface. In the worst possible case, there should be several tiebreaks again and we hope that Russian player cannot keep on winning deciding balls forever. Davydenko is a slight favourite thanks to his experience from big matches but anything above 2.4 is worth trying.
