| Analysis | Head-to-head record 0:0 Our reason for this pick is simple - Russian player Igor Andreev is much better clay courter than Marcos Baghdatis and he has proved that in the first 3 rounds at Roland Garros. He has beaten Roddick, Massu and Mathieu who can all be rated as very dangerous players. His YTD record is far from being impresive but it is partly caused by very tricky draws. He was beaten twice by Nadal or by Djokovic while managed to defeat world class claycourters such as Ferrer, Gonzalez, Massu, Chela or Acasuso. There is no doubt that clay is his favourite surface. Baghdatis on the other hand doesn´t prefer clay. He has had a very easy route through to the fourth round beating Grosjean, Pless and Hajek. Grosjean is recently out of form, Pless is not a claycourter at all and Hajek still lacks expirience. Moreover, Hajek played with injured shoulder, he almost couldn´t serve and must have retired from that match. Andreev is the big favourite of this clash and he has a very good chance to advance from the fourth round in Paris for the first time in his career. We think that Baghdatis has already met his target and this is going to be his final stop. Odds above 1.5 slould be worth a value bet but we rather chose a handicap bet. Final result: 2:6,6:1,6:3,6:4 - wager won |
