| Analysis | Head-to-head record: 0:0 Belarusian giant surely doesn´t prefer claycourts. He is a double specialist and even though he won several titles on clay in doubles, he has never achieved any remarkable success on this surface in singles. Although he managed to win some matches on faster clay in Germany last year, his style of play is not suited to clay at all. He is a serve and volley player who has enormous problems with movement on slow surface. His opponent will be Frenchman Mathieu Montcourt who spent most of his career on challenger circuit. His YTD record is not impressive but he still managed to win challenger in Durban and to play 2 semifinals. All these results come from hardcourts but Montcourt is a kind of player who does not really mind which surface is he playing on and he is capable to play on clay as well. He defeated Fisher and Gulbis here in qualifiers and we believe his chances to advance from the first round in Portschach are more than 50%. That is why we think that the odds above 2.0 should be taken here. Result: 4:6,4:6 - wager won |
